Sampion Apple tree (a.k.a. Šampion, Shampion) developed in 1960 by Otto von Louda at Penecin, Czech Republic and introduced in 1976. It was a cross between Golden Delicious and Cox’s Orange Pippin.
The fruit is medium size with round to round conic shape. The fruit ground color is greenish yellow, and the over color is red wash, which covers more than 50% of surface. It is juicy and sweet with creamy white flesh. Fruit matures 20-30 days before the Delicious and keeps in storage up to three months. The tree moderately susceptible to fire blight. Grows cold hardiness zone 5.
