Rubinette apple developed in Switzerland by Walter Hauenstein in 1966. It is a cross between Golden Delicious (female) and Cox’s Orange Pippin (male).
The fruit size small to medium with golden-yellow to light orange ground color and darker orange over color with red stripes. The flesh has creamy color. The fruit is crisp and juicy with refreshing flavor and sweet balance. The test has similarity with
Cox’s Orange Pippin. The tree is resistant to scab but it is susceptible to fire blight. It is mid season bloom variety. It matures in mid season and has about one month storage life. Tree is cold hardy and grows USDA cold hardiness zones 4-9.
