Binet Rouge Apple Tree
The fruit of the Binet Rouge apple tree is considered one of the best bittersweet cider varieties. Consequently, cider makers use it for making Calvados (apple brandy) in France. The tree is susceptible to scab, powdery mildew, and fire blight. Lastly, it is cold hardy and can be grown in USDA cold hardiness zones 4-8.
General Tree Height/Caliper: Most of our fruit trees (apple, peach, apricot, plum, pear, nectarine, quince, and cherry) are grafted/budded and are 4-6' tall with a caliper/diameter of about 1/4-3/4". Most have more than 5' height and 1/2" diameter. The other trees are seedlings, such as pawpaw, mulberry, persimmon, shade, berry, and flowering trees which range from 18-36" tall.

Binet Rouge apple tree is an old cultivar from the Normandie region of France. It is a late bloom variety with a long bloom period. Therefore it can be a good pollinator for other late bloom varieties. The fruit is medium in size and the skin color is greenish-yellow with a red blush. Additionally, the flesh is firm, aromatic and bittersweet, with a pale yellow color.
In fact, the fruit of the Binet Rouge apple tree is considered one of the best bittersweet cider varieties. Consequently, cider makers use it for making Calvados (apple brandy) in France. However, the fruit does have poor storage quality and can be kept no longer than three weeks. Additionally, the tree has a biennial bearing habit. However proper thinning and good horticultural practices can help the apple tree produce a good yield each year. Moreover, the tree is susceptible to scab, powdery mildew, and fire blight. Warranty
- If your tree doesn’t grow by July 1st or dies in the fall of the first year, please email us with a photo, order number, and description of the issue.
- If the issue is related with the tree itself rather than lack of care, we guarantee to replace it next season or give a full refund.
Refunds and Cancellations
- You can cancel your order to receive a full refund, but please note that cancelling an order after April 1st will result in a partial refund of 75% of the order total.
- We much prefer payments by credit card or PayPal. If you pay by check or cash, then payments for pickup and shipping orders should be received within 30 days of your order, otherwise will be automatically cancelled.
- If due to unforeseen circumstances your ordered tree is no longer available, you can get a full refund or a substitution with another variety.
