Red Gravenstein is improved red strain of the old Gravenstein, which is originated in the 17th century in Denmark. Tender, juicy, highly flavored flesh. Fine for apple sauce and apple cider. It is triploid and has sterile pollen. It needs two pollination partners, but the same time self-fertile varieties, such as Golden Russet or Dolgo, will pollinate Gravenstein tree. Trees are 5-6 feet tall.
