The American Persimmon was eaten and used by indigenous people in North America or Turtle Island for thousands of years. It also met George Washington, his slaves, and also George Washington Carver. In researching about its history, I realized that the persimmon had a story to tell and a gift to share with us, especially now when the world needs to learn form indigenous ways of knowing and caring for the land and one another.
